In 2008 my husband and I purchased our first home. We feel so blessed! It is an adorable two bedroom, one bedroom house, built in the year of 1936. It is quite small as it is just a little over 1000 square feet. The thing I love most about the house is the hardwood floors! We have them in every room besides the kitchen and bathroom. Owning a home with hardwood floors was the number one requirement on our home shopping list for so many reasons. Here are just a few reasons why I love hardwood floors so much:

They are so easy to clean! I have three dogs - yes, three dogs that live inside our home. We love the puppies like children; however, they are very hairy and messy. One of the dogs, the Pug, sheds all over the place all the time. I will often see hair ball tumble weeds blowing by. It is very easy to take a Swiffer Sweeper to the floors and pick up all that dog hair. Swiffer also makes the Wet Jet systems which are wonderful when caring for hardwood floors. Swiffer Wet Jets are basically mops, however you no longer need that dreaded bucket of dirty water. They are battery operated and spray cleanser over the floors as you mop. All you have to do is simply change the pads after cleaning.

Another great thing I love about hardwood floors is the ease of when I entertain or throw parties. Last week I threw a "wine tasting party" and we all had a lot of fun. Too much fun, perhaps. Some people got a little carried away and spilt burgundy wine on the floors. This could have been a disaster if we had carpet; however, since we have hardwood floors it was simple to clean up! Just a towel and a quick wipe.

Hardwood floors also look so classy. I get so many compliments on our floors and have even converted some friends to owning hardwood floors. My sister is currently in the process of purchasing new flooring for her home after experiencing them in my home.

A couple tips to owning hardwood flooring: never wear high heels on them. I love fancy shows and will wear them on almost a daily basis. I have noticed where I stand in front of my full length mirror there are several, possibly hundreds of tiny dents in the floor. My husband and I plan to check to get our floors re-finished because of this.
